Western Morning News October 21st 2014

On October 21st 2014, the Western Morning News carried a two page spread on broadband in rural Devon:

The first article is a report on the EDDC Scrutiny Panel that has been examining the Connecting Devon & Somerset contract with BT, and which has just published it's findings (Read the full Scrutiny Panel Report )

The second article is a report on BT's quoted £500,000 cost of laying fibre broadband into Upottery compared with the cost published by Google of laying a fibre optic cable between the USA and Japan on the bottom of the Pacific Ocean:

The third article is about the use of a microwave link to provide 80Mbps broadband in the village of Northlew near Oakhampton in Devon - a system that neither BT nor CDs have so far suggested could be offered in Upottery:

And just in case you are wondering, the Manor of Upottery is also mentioned in the Doomsday book of 1086 along with Dunkeswell and Great Torrington as one of the Manors of Ralph de Pomeroy who fought at the Battle of Hastings.
